Tomorrow is important - we need a healthy planet to support future generations.
Today is important - we need to give as many young adults who have disabilities the chance to integrate, work and contribute to society.
Children are our future, but they will need a healthy planet to live in. We fund research to improve child health. We offer recycling services so we can help protect our planet. Our recycling operation gives opportunities to people from all backgrounds and abilities to volunteer and learn new skills. Newlife is working within its own operations and in supporting others, to comply with the three key points of environmental protection:
...our partnerships with major retailers in the UK and Europe means we can help them to understand their surplus waste product and work to reduce this.
...a lot of surplus stock from retailers and manufacturers is created as products fail to reach a customer audience or fail their internal quality control standards. But energy has gone into the items production, so finding ways to get this product re-used, whilst honouring the planet’s energy resources that went into its creation, is important. Whether it is in its current form or used for another purpose.
...where a product cannot reasonably be re-used, Newlife works with qualified and trusted partners to recycle as much as possible of the raw materials released to create new products.
By doing this we save thousands of tonnes of waste from being sent to landfill or incinerated every year. Every day, for over 23 years, we have been helping major and independent companies to achieve their environmental protection policies and we are generating both recycled and re-used product for the benefit of all.
Newlife has unique operations offered to retailers and manufacturers, which manage this waste product. Registered with the Environment Agency, we receipt all products received so companies can prove compliance and aid security. Also to protect our partners, we undertake a responsibility to remove labelling to an agreed standard, so products donated for re-use/recycling do not come back to them for fraudulent refunds or undermine their brand imperatives.
Our environmental concerns and activities means we have product which needs processing and preparing for re-use or recycling. This product provides the chance for us to offer opportunities to disabled young people and adults, who alongside our staff and our volunteering operation, help manage this product.
As a charity we are concerned that many young people and adults do not get the opportunity to learn skills, experience the workplace and develop their social skills. All these are achieved through the Newlife Opportunity Centre and Newlife’s People Team, who welcome opportunities to:
Caring for the Planet and our People is just part of what makes Newlife great and why our partners trust us to ‘do the right thing’ and make positive differences.
