LOCAL CARLTON PUB SET TO RAISE 10K FOR LOCAL CHARITY

The Elwes Arms pub in Carlton, Nottinghamshire are hosting a major fun-filled event to raise funds for charity Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children on Monday, May 30. The funds raised will go towards providing disabled and terminally ill children with specialist equipment within the county.

Last year the pub held an event that raised an amazing £8,500, so this year the target has been increased and they are hoping to raise £10,000. The first challenge is a bungee jump which will be off a 175ft crane – so those who live for heights or are up for a new challenge can enter by paying a £30 admin fee and a minimum sponsorship of £100. The aim is to get at least 75 daredevils to take part in the bungee jump and raise money for a good cause.

Not to worry for those who can’t do heights the second challenge is a ground level glass walk!
Beccy Webster Landlady of The Elwes Arms, said: “Last year was so successful that we wanted to do it even bigger and better this year. We raised £8,500 so it was only right to increase the target this year – I think we can do it everyone is making a huge effort. I will be taking part in the glass walk myself as I’m not one for heights.”

In order to raise as much money as possible there will also be stalls selling tasty baked goods, a bouncing castle and candy floss for children to enjoy. Not to mention a raffle with some fabulous prizes to be won – proving that this event is one that is not to be missed.

“We chose Newlife because there are currently 23 families within Nottinghamshire that need specialist equipment totalling more than £3,000. If we reach the target of £10,000 it will make such a difference to many children’s lives in Nottinghamshire. If we can help a child walk for the first time with a specialist walker or have a child hear their parents’ voices clearly for the first time with a specialist hearing device it will all be worth it,” added Rebecca.

In response to growing demand, the charity launched its Newlife Nottinghamshire fund – https://newlifecharity.co.uk/Nottinghamshire – to give local people the opportunity to donate to children under 19 who need specialist equipment within the county. Newlife has already helped 353 families get specialist equipment totalling £ 307,334.

If you would like to take part in the bungee jump or glass walk please contact Rebecca Webster at beccywebster@hotmail.com or call 0115 987 1280 – the deadline for entry is April 30th 2016. Newlife guarantees that 100 per cent of monies raised in Nottinghamshire will be used to provide specialist equipment for children in the county.
