A donation of 5,000 euros is launching a charity partnership to help children with disabilities and terminal illness in Hampshire.

Utility infrastructure company TLI Group, which has offices in Basingstoke, has chosen Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children as its Charity of the Year for 2017. Newlife is the UK’s largest charity provider of specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness.

TLI Group Managing Director John Tuite said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Newlife Foundation for 2017. Our work with Scottish & Southern Electricity throughout Hampshire sees us working quite prevalently within the local communities which in turn drives us to want to give back to the locality. Our staff voted and Newlife was chosen to be one of our charities for 2017 and we are very much looking forward to making a difference to the lives of young people in Hampshire.”

Specialist equipment – like wheelchairs and walkers, beds and communication aids – has already been provided by Newlife for 424 children in Hampshire, at a cost of more than £639,000. And the charity is currently working with a further 24 families in the county.

Newlife Deputy Community Fundraising Manager Chris Fielding said: “The support of organisations like TLI Group is vital to the charity’s ability to sustain and develop its equipment services for disabled children. Every penny donated by TLI Group will help provide essential equipment for children in Hampshire, transforming young lives in the county.”
