BE A NEWLIFE HERO AND HELP CHANGE THE LIFE OF DISABLED CHILDREN

Join in the fun at the Newlife Chasewater 10k and your fundraising will help local disabled and terminally ill children receive the vital equipment they need to save and change lives.

Joe Westwood, Visual Merchandiser at the Newlife SuperStore in Hemlock Way, Cannock, has already signed up to the event on Sunday, July 16, which begins at 10.30am. Runners – and walkers – will take two laps around the picturesque course to raise funds. Although you need to be over 16 to take part, there’s plenty for younger members of the family to do while they wait, with stalls, a bouncy castle and playground based at the start / finish line.

Joe said: “I’ve worked at Newlife for four years and although we all do lots to raise money at work such as bake sales and fancy dress, this is the first time I have done an activity like this to help fundraise – but if it helps just one child then it’s worth it.

“I have been going for a lot of walks over Chasewater to practice and generally getting fit. I’m really looking forward to it and I’m sure the atmosphere will be great.”

Joe will be joined by friends Michelle O’Donnell and Claire Collins for the 10k run, which is the first such event held by Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children at Chasewater. All funds raised from the day will genuinely be used to provide equipment such as wheelchairs and specialist beds for children with a disability or terminal illness in Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

Deputy Community Fundraising Manager Chris Fielding said: “Everyone who takes part in the Chasewater 10k will be a real Newlife hero as every penny raised will be used to make such a difference. We are hoping the local community will come out to support us and make it a day to remember!”

To take part all entrants must book their place and pay the £15 entry fee in advance. For more information visit www.newlifecharity.co.uk/chasewater or call the Newlife fundraising team on 01543 462777.
