BETHANY CAN NOW SIT IN COMFORT AND SAFETY – THANKS TO YOUR HELP

Erdington seven-year-old Bethany Danbury is now able to sit in comfort and safety enjoying quality time with her family – thanks to ‘fabulous local fundraisers’.

Bethany has a rare brain disorder which has left her with no means to communicate her wants or needs other than her family understanding her cries. She is fed through a tube, has learning difficulties, Epilepsy and is visually impaired. Because of her limited head control Bethany needs to be assisted when moving.

Bethany was in need of specialist compatible seating so that she could spend quality time with her family. At her home she can only sit in her wheelchair which can become uncomfortable after a while, or she can lie on her bed upstairs away from her family.

Bethany’s mum Vicki Danbury said: “Since getting the chair Bethany has been a lot happier, it’s clear she is much more comfortable. She is able to spend more time with the family in the chair. It enables her to relax more and is great support for her posture.”

After sharing the family’s story through the local media, donations poured in from well-wishers wanting to help Bethany get her specialist seating which cost £2,025.

“I was thrilled when I was told Bethany would be getting her new chair,” said mum, Vicki. “I can’t thank people enough – all those people who took an interest and donated, it has had a big impact on the family as we can spend more quality time together with Bethany.”

The new chair has made a big difference to Bethany’s life, helping her to remain upright and supported in just the right position for her safety and comfort so she can relax with other family members. The special chair can be used in different rooms of the house and can be adjusted as she grows, meeting her needs for some time to come.
