ARE YOU A COMMITTED CHRISTMAS-AHOLIC? If you love Christmas, and enjoy the fun it brings, there’s no better way to celebrate than becoming a ‘Dashing Santa’ for the day.
Join in with other Santas to take part in Newlife’s second annual Santa Dash fundraising event – running, walking or being pushed, the one mile route is through Cannock Park and the town centre. The Dash will again help local disabled children get the equipment they need.
Individuals and local teams are invited to sign up right now to join in the charity event, on Saturday 17 December. Interested Santas can view last year’s event, which took place in the snow,
Sheila Brown, Newlife’s CEO, said: “This was a great fun occasion last year with around 60 people taking part, raising funds to support local disabled and terminally ill children. We have seven children locally who need Newlife’s help to buy them equipment, such as specialist buggies and wheelchairs, so we need to get people signed up right now.”
Last year a team from South Staffordshire College took part and Chief Executive Principal, Graham Morley, said: “As a key part of the community, our staff and students frequently undertake volunteer work and raise funds to support local and national charities. The Santa Dash last year was a great team event and we really enjoyed taking part – the snow just made it even more festive! We are delighted that this year the Santa Dash will end at our College Campus in Cannock and are pleased to again support Newlife to raise funds for local disabled and terminally ill children.”
To sign up for the Newlife Santa Dash, contact Newlife (freephone) on 0800 988 4640, email info@newlifecharity.co.uk or visit Newlife’s website: www.newlifecharity.co.uk/events. Newlife is asking each participant to raise a minimum of £30 sponsorship each and will provide every participant with a free Santa suit.
The Dash will start at 11am (Dashers to arrive at 10.30am) at the Leisure Centre, as they begin their one mile route to the town centre, ending at South Staffordshire College for refreshments. A Newlife jewellery sale, on a town centre stall, will run concurrently for those last-minute Christmas presents.
Newlife guarantees that 100 per cent of money raised will go to local children in desperate need of essential equipment.
