Cannock Shopping Centre is extending its charity partnership with Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children for a further year.
In 2013, the shopping centre set out to raise £3,467 to fund a specialist bed for a local disabled child. To date they have raised £2,557 so decided to continue support for the Cannock-based children’s disability charity for another year. As well as hoping to complete the funding of the specialist bed they are also looking to raise a further £2,000 to help another local child.
Newlife Fundraising Manager Nora Smith said: “Cannock Shopping Centre management, staff and customers generously supported Newlife throughout 2013, raising an impressive sum which has gone a long way to funding the equipment for this local family. Newlife has already ring-fenced the balance so the family could have the benefit of the specialist bed as soon as possible – and we are delighted that the shopping centre has chosen to continue to support us to fund this equipment in its entirety. This will free up urgently needed funds for other disabled and terminally ill children in the county.”
She added: “We are very grateful for all the support we have received from Cannock Shopping Centre in 2013 and look ahead to 2014. ‘Charity of the Year’ partnerships like this one are key to enabling Newlife to build on and expand our range of practical services for families of some of the UK’s most vulnerable children. And Newlife guarantees that 100 per cent of all monies raised by Cannock Shopping Centre will be used to specifically support Staffordshire children.”
Natal Chapman, Manager of Cannock Shopping Centre, commented:
“We are so close to our final target to pay for the specialist bed and we are determined to hit the all-important goal of £3,467. Further to this, however, we would like to be able to raise enough money to help look after another child. This charity is so important and we are very proud to support Newlife Foundation once again this year. Through various events and charity fundraisers that we will hold in 2014 I have no doubt that the people of Cannock will continue to show their support and help us help Newlife.”
