CHAMBER’S CHARITY AWARD HELPS DISABLED CHILDREN

Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce is helping disabled and terminally ill children in the area get vital specialist equipment.

The Chamber has chosen Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children as its ‘Charity of the Year’ and an award of £3,000 will boost its South Yorkshire Fund.

Newlife is the UK’s largest charity provider of specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness and is currently working with 14 families in South Yorkshire with needs totalling £13,210.

Newlife County Fundraiser Caroline Artschan said: “We are delighted that the Chamber of Commerce has chosen Newlife for this honour. With statutory services continuing to make stringent cutbacks we are receiving more requests for help than ever before so the £3,000 is very timely. Thank you to event sponsors Secure Power who donated the money.”

She added: “I am looking forward to meeting as many of the 1,200 active members of the Chamber as possible – to show them how their support can transform young lives.”

Newlife has already supported 379 children in South Yorkshire with £348,035 of equipment including wheelchairs and walking frames, specialist beds and seating, video monitors and communication aids.
