DERBYSHIRE PUB SETTING SIGHTS HIGH FOR LOCAL CHARITY

Risley pub supervisor Steve Cave is taking a high-flying challenge – a wing walk – on Saturday August 13, to raise money for Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, which helps disabled and terminally ill children in Derbyshire.

Newlife is the UK’s largest charitable provider of essential equipment to meet the specialist needs of children with disabilities and terminal illness.

Steve said: “I was the only one from the pub crazy enough to sign up and I am so excited to do it. I think Newlife is a fantastic charity and that all children should have the best start in life, giving them the help they need to achieve amazing things. If we can help a few children get the equipment they need it is definitely worth walking on a wing.”

The Risley Park has already raised £1,740 to help families in the county get specialist equipment; and as well as the wing walk, the pub is also hosting two fabulous forthcoming events to raise more funds for Newlife.

The first is a Casino Night on Saturday, September 10, from 7.30pm – 11pm; the theme is Hollywood black tie. The guests can look forward to a Bellini on arrival as well as canapés and use “funny money” to win big on roulette and blackjack tables. There will also be an auction with some amazing prizes to be won – at £20 a ticket this event is not to be missed.

If you can’t make the Casino Night then not to worry as the Psychic Night on Friday, October 28, from 7.30pm – 11pm, is set to be a spook fest. Donning your favourite Halloween costumes – for £15 a ticket – you get to have a peek at what your future may be like and if that’s not enough there’s a hearty chilli supper.

If you would like to buy tickets for either of these events contact: Joe Groombridge on 01159392313.

In response to growing need for essential equipment Newlife launched Newlife Local in Derbyshire – https://newlifecharity.co.uk/Derbyshire – to give local people the opportunity to donate to children who need specialist equipment within the county. There are currently 14 families who are in need of specialist equipment totalling £7,439. To date, Newlife has helped 352 families who have been provided with specialist equipment totalling £312,543.
