DRIVEN TO RAISE CHARITY FUNDS

When local golfers clubbed together to carry out some fundraising, it was good news for disabled children.

A trio of golfers from Chase Golf Club carried out a series of events for charity, and club captain Paul Thacker chose to help Newlife Foundation, leading charity for disabled and terminally ill children.

Paul, a bank manager who lives in Hednesford, raised an amazing £2,161 from events including a captain’s day, fun days and raffles at the club.

Handing over the cheque to Newlife’s Christopher Belyavin, Paul said: “It’s good that this money will go to help a local disabled child. I chose Newlife Foundation as my charity because I have always been interested in the welfare of disabled children and worked with them for a while when I was at college.”

Christopher Belyavin said: “We are very grateful for Paul choosing us as his charity for his captain’s year. The amount he raised is very welcome, and it will be put to very good use helping children in the local area.”
