Zoe Lucker, ‘Vanessa’, and David Proud, ‘Adam’, from Eastenders, have signed up to take part in ‘Roll ‘n’ Stroll’ in Painshill Park, Cobham in Surrey next month – a sponsored 2.5 mile run or 1.5 mile roll for wheelchair users/stroll for walkers – to raise much needed funds for Newlife, the UK’s leading children’s disability charity. Supported by Cargill. Register for the sponsored Roll ‘n’ Stroll at https://newlifecharity.co.uk/event Currently Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children has seven children throughout the Surrey region who need £20,274.86 for powered wheelchairs, specialist mobility aids and other kinds of essential equipment. Newlife has already helped 90 children in Surrey spending £191,460.77. Since Newlife started providing equipment grants in 2004, a total of £6,044,894.22 has been spent helping 4,131 children nationwide. ‘Roll ‘n’ Stroll’ will take place on Sunday, 15 May 2011 in Painshill, one of Europe’s most important 18th century landscape gardens. Zoe Lucker says: “As a mother, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to cope with the challenges of a disabled child. This is why I am supporting this event as Newlife will be able to continue to provide the lifeline they do to families of disabled children who otherwise may be left high and dry. Not only do Newlife provide equipment and a dedicated nurse helpline they also fund research and campaign tirelessly to ensure these families have a voice.” David Proud says: “It’s great to be signing up for this event and to take part in something that will help disabled children around the UK get the vital equipment they need. As a wheelchair user myself, I know how a chair can provide freedom and independence and allows me to do everything that an able-bodied person can.” Speaking on behalf of Cargill, Jan Winteridge says: “We are delighted to be able to continue supporting Newlife by sponsoring this event. We hope that the local community will enjoy the day and get behind such a worthy cause.” Facebook | Roll ‘n’ Stoll
