FAMILY’S CHRISTMAS WISH COMES TRUE

A family in Southsea have had their Christmas wish come true, with the news that their one-year-old son Ezra will soon have the specialist equipment he needs to get out and about in comfort and safety.

Ezra Putineanu, who will be two in February, has a rare neurodevelopmental disorder called Pura Syndrome. This is characterised by seizures, low muscle tone, developmental delay and excessive sleepiness.

His parents, who live in the Milton area of the town, have been using a standard child buggy to get him to hospital appointments and out into the local community. However, this equipment doesn’t give Ezra the postural support he needs and health professionals recommended a specialist buggy costing £1,594. With no funding available locally for this, the family turned to Newlife charity for help. Newlife is the UK’s largest charity provider of specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness.

Now Ezra is set to get his special needs buggy in the New Year. Mum Andrea Putineanu said: “This will make a big difference to us. Ezra will be properly supported to help reduce further health issues and we will have peace of mind knowing he is more comfortable.”

This has been possible thanks to funding support of Newlife by TLI Group, which has offices in Hampshire.

TLI Group is a utility infrastructure company which has chosen Newlife as its Charity of the Year for 2017 and kicked off the partnership with a donation of €5,000 (£4,134.28), specifically to help families in Hampshire.

TLI Group Managing Director John Tuite said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Newlife for 2017 and we are very much looking forward to making a difference to the lives of young people in Hampshire.”

Ezra is one of 428 children in Hampshire to be supported by Newlife, through a wide range of specialist equipment totalling more than £641,000. Right now, the charity is currently working with a further 21 families in the county.
