Women who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer will once again be taking to the catwalk at a fashion show at the Fairlawns Hotel in Aldridge, near Sutton Coldfield, to raise money for two local charities.
The fashion show and subsequent clothes sale is organised by Breast Friends cancer support charity in conjunction with the charity Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, which is supplying the clothing.
A similar event last summer generated £2,230 for Newlife and almost £1,500 for Breast Friends.
Breast Friends members this year will take to the catwalk on June 4th, when the theme will be ‘A Day at the Races’ plus evening wear and casual wear. Once again, clothes, shoes and accessories will be available for sale after the show at bargain prices.
The day promises to be terrific fun, starting at around 10.30am with tea/coffee and cakes, and includes the fashion show, an exclusive fashion sale and then a three-course lunch. Make-up will once again be done by the Nouveau Beauty Company, and wigs provided by Trendco at City Plaza, Birmingham.
The venue, Fairlawns Hotel, is a beautiful and prestigious setting for the event, well known for its elegance, its spa and its fine dining.
Newlife fundraising manager Nora Smith said: “This sale will not only benefit our own charity – and disabled and terminally ill children in the Midlands – but will also raise funding for Breast Friends, which does great work locally.
“It was a pleasure working with them last year and I am delighted that it is becoming an annual fixture.”

Many of our ladies attend the sale and enjoy finding the bargains knowing that as well as helping our own charity, special needs and terminally ill children also benefit.”
