The family of Northampton girl Lucy Tinant are asking for your help with Lucy and other children with disabilities or terminal illness in Northampton.
Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children has already helped 160 children in Northamptonshire through equipment grants and loans totalling more than £200,000, so the charity knows there is a very real need for a specific county fund. In this way it aims to help more children, more quickly.
Right now, Newlife Foundation needs £4,376 for six children in Northampton to secure vital specialist equipment to help improve daily life. Lucy has a number of medical conditions as well as suffering with seizures that are not well controlled. It has been almost impossible to takes Lucy out of the home.
Mum, Phillipa explains: “Trips out for Lucy are currently restricted by the necessity to be near specialist changing facilities. A grant from Newlife will enable us to purchase a mobile hoist for Lucy, so her needs can be met safely and with dignity wherever she goes.
“Furthermore this flexibility will benefit Lucy’s brother and sister who will also no longer be limited by their sister’s needs.”
Equipment for Lucy will cost £2,095. Mum, Phillipa, turned to Newlife for help after failing to find funding elsewhere.
The Newlife Foundation Northamptonshire Fund supports equipment provision for under-19s facing any significant disability, whether acquired through birth defect, prematurity, accident or illness.
Lucy’s family are encouraging local people to support the recently launched fund to provide specialist equipment for children with disabilities or terminal illness in Northamptonshire.

That might involve taking part in a local sporting challenge, give you information on how to organise a fundraising event – or even ask you to donate £5 today. Volunteers are also needed to help raise awareness of what we do and how we do it.
We hope that by launching the Newlife Northamptonshire Fund, children with disabilities or terminal illness in the county won’t have to go without the equipment they need for everyday life.
