IT FIRM’S FABULOUS FUNDRAISING CHANGES LIVES

Staff at a Stourport-on-Severn business have been putting the fun into fundraising to help change the lives of disabled children across Worcestershire.

OGL Computer, which provides business software, IT solutions and cyber security solutions to UK businesses, raised almost £4,500 for their 2017 charity of the year, Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children. Fundraising events included a delicious bake-off, brain teasing quiz and ‘sparkle party’, selling jewellery supplied by Newlife, donated by high street retailers. Staff were also sponsored to run the Birmingham International and Belfast Half Marathons, with OGL Computer providing match funding.

Thanks to the money raised, Newlife – the UK’s largest charity provider of specialist disability equipment – has already been able to give a sleep system to a nine-year-old who has Cerebral Palsy. He needs help to keep his hips in the correct position during the night in the hope of avoiding surgery.

A specialist buggy has also been funded for a three-year-old girl who has Downs Syndrome, no awareness of danger and can’t walk far. Now she is able to go outside without the risk of injury and have the same freedom to explore and have fun as other children her age.

Cindy Phillips, Marketing Manager from OGL Computer said: “We really enjoyed raising money for Newlife and we wanted as many people as possible to benefit from our donations to the charity – knowing that the money raised will help lots of children across Worcestershire makes us all very proud.”

Meredith Lambert, Newlife’s Regional Fundraising and Awareness Manager for the Midlands, said: “We want to thank staff at OGL Computer for their fundraising throughout the year. Every penny of the money raised will help disabled children in Worcestershire receive the equipment they desperately need.”
