Lions Clubs Raise £1,000 To Help Disabled Liverpool Child

Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children is proud to announce that seven Lions Clubs have raised £1,074.66 towards the funding of a piece of equipment for a Liverpool child. This is an amazing total instigated by Rod Sellers, President of Formby and District Lions Club and Keith Patterson, Chairman of their Welfare Committee. Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children is the leading children’s disability charity that works closely to provide a range of services for children and their families with disabilities across the UK. The money raised will be used to purchase a specialist buggy for a seven-year-old disabled child from Liverpool. Mr Patterson from Formby and District Lions Club said: “We were informed of the need for specialist equipment to assist in the care of disabled children. The cost of providing such equipment was initially considered to be beyond our financial capability, but we thought the neighbouring clubs would be willing to help. This proved to be true and all seven clubs within our zone agreed to support the full cost of providing the specialist buggy for a very special and deserving young child. The rest as they say is history. The Lions’ motto is “We Serve” and this is what we have been pleased to achieve with the help of all those who support our charity.” Mr Patterson contacted Lions Clubs in Crosby and District, Douglas Valley, Liverpool, Ormskirk & Maghull, Southport and Upholland Tawd Vale who all contributed to the piece of equipment. Chief Executive of Newlife Foundation, Mrs Sheila Brown, OBE adds: “This is a fantastic achievement and very encouraging to see the efforts of the Lions Clubs in improving the lives of disabled children within the local community. We are very grateful to everyone involved, and would encourage other groups and individuals to keep fundraising for other disabled children in Liverpool.” For further information on Newlife Foundation, or how to get involved, log onto www.newlifecharity.co.uk, or contact the Newlife Fundraising Team on 01543 462777.
