LOCAL TRAINING CENTRE RAISES FUNDS TO HELP COUNTY’S DISABLED CHILDREN

Cannock-based Nova Training has raised £427 for Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children, to help provide specialist equipment for Staffordshire families.

Nova runs study programme courses for school leavers aged 16 to 18 as an alternative to college, along with a variety of apprenticeship opportunities.

The money was raised through a series of ‘Dress Down Fridays’. Karen Jackson, Work Placement and Progression Officer at Nova Training, said: “I nominated Newlife as they are such a big part of Cannock and have always accommodated our learners on work placements whenever possible.

“We also use the Newlife SuperStore to purchase interview clothes for our learners, as this allows our money to go much further.”

Newlife is the UK’s largest charity provider of specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness and has supported 970 families in Staffordshire, with items totalling £1,060,067. For further information go to: https://newlifecharity.co.uk/staffordshire

Right now, the charity is working with a further 27 families in Staffordshire with equipment needs of £9,358. If you think you can help, go to the website and donate. Alternatively, contact the Newlife County Liaison Team on 01543 431 444, email local@newlifecharity.co.uk.

Newlife guarantees that 100 per cent of monies donated or fundraised in Staffordshire will be used to specifically help children with disabilities and terminal illness in the county.
