Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children has scooped the accolade for ‘Notable Charity’ in the inaugural Cannock Chase Business Awards.
The awards were launched by Cannock Chase MP Aidan Burley and local entrepreneur Steve Mallows, who runs thebestofcannock.
Newlife Operations Manager Stephen Morgan and Development Director Pat Grant collected the award from Central TV newscaster Llewela Bailey, who hosted the ceremony in Cannock on Friday night (July 6).
Around 90 organisations were vying for 11 awards, including ‘most innovative’, ‘notable effect on the local economy’ and ‘green business’.
Newlife’s Stephen Morgan said: “The competition judges recognised that the entire Newlife operation – both the charity and the trading company which exists solely to fund our work with disabled and terminally ill children – has its roots very much inCannock. While we are a national charity, we appreciate being recognised for our contribution to the local community.”
He added: “Newlife services support several families in the Cannock area, the trading company provides employment for around 230 people and at the same time offers discount clothing and home wares to thousands of local shoppers. The success of our charity is dependent on the support we receive from the community, which makes this award so important to us.”
