Newlife Foundation Head of Operations Stephen Morgan represented the charity at a prestigious healthcare conference in Birmingham on Wednesday 10 October.
He had been invited to address the NRS Healthcare event, held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Among the key speakers was Lord Rennard – a long-time supporter of Newlife – who highlighted the proposed Any Qualified Provider system and the impact this is likely to have on services and service users.
Stephen Morgan told upwards of 100 delegates, many of them representing statutory bodies from around the UK, that communication and collaboration between all sectors is vital and stressed the importance of the role that the voluntary sector plays in equipment provision.
He said: “A good working relationship is vital during a period of public sector cuts; in particular there is an opportunity for statutory bodies and voluntary organisations to work together to utilise more effectively and efficiently equipment currently in the system, helping more disabled children as a direct result.”
Stephen added: “It was a very interesting and rewarding day, with good contacts made for the future.”
