A fundraising Hemyock family are holding a coffee morning at their home later this month (November), to raise money to help provide vital specialist equipment for disabled and terminally ill children in Devon.
Parents Nicky and Nick Allen – together with children Josh, Lauryn and Kasey – are opening the doors of their home at 20 Station Road in Hemyock from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 29 November as part of their fundraising efforts to support Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.
Newlife Foundation is the leading UK children’s disability charity which provided a mobility scooter for teenage son Sam Allen when he was in the final stages of a courageous battle with cancer. Sadly, 18-year-old Sam passed away this summer.

Nicky Allen said: “Family, friends and local organisations have been extremely generous in donating a host of draw prizes for the event. We have vouchers for meals at local restaurants, Exeter City Football Club goodies, an overnight stay at a B&B and loads of other wonderful prizes. We want to raise as much money as possible to make Sam proud. Everyone is welcome.”
The Allen family are spearheading Newlife Foundation’s ‘Sam’s Legacy’ campaign to help raise the £40,000 a year that is needed to support disabled and terminally ill children in Devon through equipment provision.
Sam’s Legacy has already seen its first success, with 18-month-old Madeline Bell, from nearby Willand, getting a specialist wheelchair so she is safe and comfortable when she is out with her family.
Madeline has Cerebral Palsy, is visually impaired and profoundly deaf (To read more of Madeline’s story Click Here).
