SANTA SURPRISE . . .

A group of disabled children have been treated to an early Santa Surprise at the luxury Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire.

The hotel hosted the party on behalf of the Morgan Foundation which is currently working in partnership with Newlife. All the children who attended on Sunday (November 29) have received essential disability equipment from Newlife, with funding provided by the Morgan Foundation.

The party – for the children and their families – was a huge hit, and Santa made a surprise visit to meet them and distribute presents. The event included afternoon tea and a variety of activities, giving parents a chance to meet and talk.

Morgan Foundation chairman Steve Morgan – who owns the hotel and set up his Foundation in 2001 to support charities across North Wales, Merseyside, West Cheshire and North Shropshire – said: “Our charity golf day and gala dinner, held at Carden Park last year, raised over £450k – all of which was allocated to Newlife to make a real difference to the lives of children across our region and parts of the West Midlands. Seeing the children enjoying themselves was fantastic and confirms that it’s been a partnership that’s worked really well. The team at the hotel have done a great job in providing all the entertainment and food and giving everyone a warm welcome.”

Support from the Morgan Foundation has helped Newlife fund equipment like hi-tech wheelchairs, specialist buggies and beds, standing and walking frames, portable hoists and communication aids for more than 300 children.

Newlife CEO Sheila Brown, OBE, said: “This has been a very successful partnership which has helped transform the lives of dozens of children – and their families. For instance, wheelchairs can help children go to school, specialist beds relieve pain, buggies enable infants to leave hospital and communication aids mean children can finally ‘talk’ to family and friends. We are very grateful to the Morgan Foundation for their support and look forward to working with them in the future.”
