Members of the Staffordshire branch of the British Korean Veterans Association have been buffing up their medals and stepping out in style to collect charitable donations on behalf of county-based Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.
The small but indomitable band of old soldiers, led by Mr John Powner, has raised more than £1,900 for the charity over the past ten months, most recently with a collection at Sainsbury’s in Stafford which realised £310.23.
Mr Powner said: “I have a small team of people who are happy to support such a worthwhile local charity. Our next collections will be at Stafford Guildhall on Friday 30 November and Saturday 1 December and Sainsbury’s in Cannock the following day, Sunday 2 December.”
Funds collected by the war veterans has helped provide essential disability equipment for children in Staffordshire.
