YORKSHIRE’S DEDICATED NEWLIFE FUNDRAISER

A dedicated fundraiser and campaigner with many years of experience has become the Yorkshire Regional Fundraising Awareness Manager with national charity Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.

Caroline Artschan, from Rotherham, Yorkshire, is passionate about her new role working throughout the county to raise awareness of Newlife Foundation – the largest charity funder of specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness in the UK.

Caroline will be working across the whole of Yorkshire – East Riding of Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire – where Newlife has already helped a total of 903 children, providing equipment costing almost £928,052. Right now there are a further 55 children waiting for help with equipment needs totalling £74,909.

Caroline said: “I became a fundraiser eight years ago and decided to dedicate my career to improving standards for local disabled children. In the past, potential fundraisers have regularly expressed concerns over donations being used to cover administration costs or simply being absorbed into the ‘big pot’, but at Newlife the charity guarantees that 100% of money raised will go directly to supply essential equipment for children with disabilities or a terminal illness. This will hopefully encourage more people to raise money for children in their local area who are in desperate need of equipment which will change their lives”.

Caroline has spent recent years working in a children’s hospice after giving up a career in tourism.

She said: “My first career enabled me to go to many fantastic places, but no matter how idyllic travel seems, the rewards of raising money to help disabled children far surpass it. Now I am very pleased to have the opportunity to help to improve everyday life for many more local disabled children.

“It has always astounded me that not only do families have the emotional and financial pressure of caring for a sick child, they also face a massive struggle to get vital equipment to manage from day to day. I relish the prospect that as Fundraising and Awareness Manager for the Yorkshire regions, I will be instrumental in helping to provide real help for children with disabilities or terminal illness.”

Caroline will be talking to interested groups, local and corporate businesses and schools about how Newlife supports families in the county through provision of equipment like hi-tech wheelchairs, specialist beds and car seats, stair climbers, walking frames and communication aids.
