Charlotte’s Story
Charlotte Baggeley ran this year’s London Marathon – and said being able to complete it for Newlife was an honour.
“The support I received in the run up to the event from the team at Newlife and my fellow runners was invaluable. I was given lots of encouragement around my training and lots of support and ideas for fundraising along the way too.
“When race day dawned it was great to get to London and feel the electric buzz from the crowd and although I had my family supporting me, it was lovely to see a familiar face after the event too with Timothie, Newlife’s Events Officer there to greet me, and the added bonus of a goody bag from him which included some much needed treats!
“During the event I did struggle – being from Rotherham I’m not used to running in nice weather – so I found it tough going as it was a sunny day, but focusing on the amazing work Newlife does, made it much easier to keep going.
“The messages I received in the run up to race day really helped to keep me motivated too – especially hearing first hand from Newlife staff the impact of the funds raised can have, whether that’s as specialist equipment like beds and wheelchairs, or the support for families through the Nurse Helpline.
“I’m not 100% sure I would do a marathon again (although never say never!) but I wouldn’t hesitate to support Newlife again!”
The Difference You Will Make
