Ideas to fundraise this Christmas

Christmas is a time of year when you can really get creative and go all out with festive fundraising activities, raising vital funds for children and their families. Here are some of our favourite ideas to help get you started.

Festive bake off

From reindeer brownies and snowman bakes to elf cookies and Santa cakes! Organise a festive bake off where you and friends can compete to see who bakes best, and raise funds while you do. Sell your bakes for others to try – and of course, they’ll have to try as many bakes as possible to decide a winner!

You can even pay to enter the competition, with a prize for the best bake or most festive idea. Download our poster template here to let people know.

Christmas party time

Set your party budget, aim to spend as little as possible by being innovative and donate the rest to Newlife. You could sell tickets and add £1 to the price, have collection cans on tables, or even hold a raffle or auction.

Not forgetting karaoke, where you could pay to sing your favourite tune. Or even make a donation for a song request at the Christmas party!

FUNdraise get-together

There are loads of ways to fundraise with friends or family. Why not try a Festive Quiz where you pay to enter, Pin the nose on the Rudolf, or even Guess the weight of the Christmas cake!

Another great idea is to hold a sweepstake – this could be on who might win a TV show or sporting match. Or even something simple like guess how many candy canes or baubles are in the jar

Arrange an event or workshop

You could organise a Santa dash, or a Christmas movie afternoon where you pay to have the afternoon off work and watch a Christmas movie with your colleagues.

If crafting is more your thing, why not organise a paid workshop? It could be wreath making, bird feeder building, watercolour painting or cake-decorating. Charge to attend the workshop or sell your wares before Christmas and donate the proceeds to Newlife’s Give the Gift of Play appeal.

Festive fancy dress

Who doesn’t love fancy dress! You could host a festive pyjama day, Christmas hat competition, winter jumpers or even dress up as your favourite Christmas character.

The list is endless and friends or colleagues can pay to get involved – with a prize for the best dressed, of course!

Fun work ideas

Make work fun this festive season and organise a decorate a desk competition, where colleagues either pay to enter or pay to vote for the best-dressed desk. You could also sell Christmas crackers with unique prizes – one could contain a free day off!

Why not try Guess the Tree, where staff bring in a photo of their Christmas tree (with a clue in the picture) and people have to pay to guess who’s tree it is. Create a quiz sheet and number the photos so those playing can match them up!

Staff could also donate the last hour of their pay in 2023, to end the year doing something amazing and helping those in need.

Challenge yourself

Ever wanted to try skydiving? Well, now is your chance! You could even dress up for the occasion, perhaps as Santa, Rudolf or one of his helpers – or wear a Christmas jumper.

You could also set your own challenge over the 12 days of Christmas or advent period – taking on a challenge a day and getting sponsored to complete them.
