Providing vital specialist equipment for children with disabilities

Newlife’s Equipment Grant Service provides essential specialist equipment to support disabled and terminally ill children, helping to improve function, comfort and quality of life.

We can fund buggies, wheelchairs, beds, and car seats listed in our online catalogue, with grants available up to £10,000. For children facing critical or rapidly changing needs, we may also be able to offer an Emergency Equipment Loan if suitable equipment is available.

Because demand is extremely high and Newlife receives no government funding, we may not be able to support every application — but we are committed to helping as many families as we can.

Are you eligible?

Please check your child meets the below criteria before continuing to the application process:

The child your applying for is a UK resident,
The child is under 19 years of age at the point of application,
The child has a disability* that affects their daily life, which means that equipment is needed,
Local services have been contacted prior to applying to Newlife to determine if they are able to meet the needs of the child.

Equipment application process

Step 1 - Check our website

Take a look through our website and see if we can offer you the right equipment for your child’s needs. Newlife provide both an Equipment Grant and Emergency Equipment Loan services for disabled children who meet all of the eligibility criteria.

Step 3 - Professional support

Before proceeding to the application form, please ensure you have a relevant professional to support your application (please check our FAQs here for supporting professional).

Step 2 - View our equipment

Whether it’s an equipment grant or equipment loan you require, view of equipment catalogue and find the piece of equipment that’s right for your child. Make a note of the ID number (you’ll need to input this on the application form).

Step 4 - Apply online

Once you have checked you meet the eligibility criteria, found the piece of equipment you need and have a supporting professional, you can then apply online. For any help with the process, please call our Nurse Helpline on 0800 902 0095 8am-8pm Monday to Friday.
