Newlife Nurses – helping you take care of your mental health

Mental Health Awareness Week, May 12-18, shines a light on how our mental health can affect all aspects our lives, whatever we are facing, big and small, and the things we can do to support it.

To help, our Newlife Nurses have been speaking with Newlife Communications Manager Amy Norbury as part of the series Newlife Talks, which delves into a variety of different issues affecting families who have children with disabilities.

As part of the latest instalment, they discuss what mental health is, how it impacts every one of us and, crucially, how Newlife can help.

Families who have children with disabilities can often need extra support to help them deal with a wide range of issues, such as emotions arising from a new diagnosis or new crisis point, or the difficulties they face in everyday life, such as isolation, financial issues and relationship breakdown, as well as the frustration of waiting lists and struggling to get the right specialist equipment for their children.

Whether you need support for a specific issue or ongoing help, it can seem quite overwhelming but taking that first step to call a Newlife Nurse can unlock the pathways to the right support.
