All of Newlife’s families know how important our Nurse helpline is, and this year the amazing services is at the centre of our Christmas campaign.
The Newlife Nurse Helpline is a lifeline for families, not just in the run up to the festive season, but all year round, so families can talk to a professionally qualified, registered nurse with a wealth of experience, who truly understands.
The help provided by the Newlife Nurse Helpline to families is often life-changing – but calls to the helpline have risen by more than 73 per cent% year on year so we need your help to ensure our Newlife Nurses can continue to be there for everyone who needs them.
A mum called Danielle recently contacted our Nurse Helpline for help with a specialist buggy for her 10-year-old son Harry, who has Autism. They hadn’t left the house in more than two years following a deeply traumatic experience which had a severe impact on Harry – to the point where he even stopped eating
Local services that could have provided support had been closed due to funding cuts, and despite Danielle’s countless letters to her MP, her pleas for help remained completely unresolved. This is when, feeling utterly alone and unsure where to turn, she reached out to Newlife’s free Nurse Helpline and spoke to one of our nurses, Beth.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, Beth was able to help and quickly provide a specialist buggy so Danielle and Harry can leave the house for the first time in years – enabling them to enjoy the festive season in their community.
*For privacy, we’ve changed the names of Danielle and Harry, but their story is real.
A Call for Help Christmas Appeal means that Newlife Nurses can help more families when they need it most – because when a family I in crisis, Newlife’s support can be a lifeline.
