Newlife Charity Press Statement

As the Queen’s Jubilee approaches, Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children is inviting everyone to host their own royal tea party, raising vital funds to help support disabled and terminally ill children across the UK.

The Jubilee is a great excuse to bring your friends, family, neighbours or colleagues together. Whether you choose to host an afternoon tea in the garden or a have right royal get-together at your workplace or school – it’s a fabulous way to raise money.

Newlife’s National Community Fundraiser, Charley Burke, said: “We’d love as many people as possible to have fun and celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee, whilst supporting disabled children and their families that are really struggling to get the right equipment for their child. Right now, Newlife has almost 300 children on its waiting list for help.

“There are lots of scenarios where families require extra help and support. They might need specialist equipment to enable a child to safely leave hospital such as a car seat, bed or buggy – items that can minimise risk of choking or injury, special seating or beds can ensure the comfort of a child in the last few months of life. The right equipment and suitable toys can enable a child to develop their independence and join in fun activities with their friends!”

However you decide to celebrate the jubilee, Newlife has put together a free pack of ideas with crafts and a fun quiz to get everyone involved and really get the party started. If you can’t make the Jubilee weekend, you can host your celebration at any point during the month of June.
