Call on party leaders to make disabled children a priority!

Disabled children are among the most vulnerable, disadvantaged and least listened to in our society. Newlife’s latest report ‘Fight For Our Future’ paints a bleak picture where parents and carers are unable to meet their child’s most basic needs, as they navigate a broken system that does all it can to undermine them.

It is scandalous that only 2 in 5 families feel their child has all the equipment they need, and 75% of professionals are similarly concerned that children in their area are living without essential equipment. Enough is enough – it is time to ensure every child is treated with the care they deserve.

We urge party leaders to make disabled children a priority at the next general election. To do this, they should commit to ACT:

  •
    • Accelerate equipment provision – Meet all specialist equipment needs.

    • Cut waiting times – Establish maximum wait times for assessments.

    • Tackle staff shortages – Ensure paediatric Occupational Therapy teams are fully staffed.

Join us in asking party leaders to prioritise disabled children at the next election and pledge to ACT. Sign the petition now and make your voice heard!
