ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A VOLUNTEER IN WEST YORKSHIRE?

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is supporting Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children by offering community rooms for the charity’s use to recruit volunteers.

The sessions take place as follows and will run between 11am and 1pm.

  • Tuesday 9th June – Bradford Fire Station, 540 Leeds Rd, Bradford
  • Thursday 11th June – Dewsbury Fire Station, Huddersfield Rd, Dewsbury
  • Tuesday 16th June – Stanningley Fire Station, 637 Stanningley Road, Leeds
  • Wednesday 24th June – Wakefield Fire Station, Brunswick St, Wakefield

Newlife Volunteers Manager Kevin Lowe said: “You can help by volunteering to promote Newlife Foundation locally or to help raise funds to buy equipment such as wheelchairs, frames and specialist beds.

“You can deliver activities in your community or provide support at an organised event and we guarantee that 100% of every penny raised is spent on local children.

“As well as having a great time, you will also gain a range of social, practical and employment skills. You can also add volunteering to your CV and get references from us for future jobs. No experience is necessary.”

Area Manager for Fire Safety, Ian Bitcon said: “When Newlife Foundation approached us asking for help with venues where they could hold recruitment sessions, we were keen to assist.

“Newlife Foundation clearly makes a positive impact on disabled children’s lives across West Yorkshire – anyone who comes to the volunteer recruitment sessions can also take the opportunity to sign up for a free Home Fire Safety Check whilst they are at the station!”
