On Saturday June 9, 2018, almost 50 walkers set off from Buckinghamshire village Holmer Green on a 26 mile marathon walk to Windsor Castle to raise vital funds for Newlife. Almost £12,500 has now been raised through the challenge, smashing the original target. Every penny will be spent on providing vital equipment for disabled and terminally ill children.
Chi Fung Tang (known as Chif) has severe learning difficulties and a heart of gold. On his 38th birthday Chif was asked what he would like to achieve this year and he responded with “I would like to complete a challenge for Newlife”. His dream became reality in the form of Chif’s Challenge with a fitting destination of Windsor Castle as Chif is a big fan of the royal family.
Chif enthusiastically led the way in warm sunshine through the beautiful woods, villages and countryside of Buckinghamshire and onto the Thames path, through The Great Park and up the Long Walk to the castle for a royal rest.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Chif, everyone who took part and all the generous people who donated to Newlife through the event. It will change children’s lives.
