YOU DESERVE A GOOD NIGHT OUT – UP TO 100 WOMEN WILL WOO CHESTERFIELD AUDIENCE

Imagine this scenario . . . leave the house one night in May and return dancing back up the path after an unforgettable evening close to home.

Up to a hundred voices from the Aurora Women’s A Capella Chorus will be filling the hall of Loundsley Green Community Centre in Chesterfield on Saturday May 16, performing an often lively set that promises to get you tapping your feet. The evening is supporting Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, which helps children with disabilities and terminal illness in Derbyshire.

Aurora was launched in September 2006 and is open to all women with an interest in singing and who are motivated to achieve high musical standards. Operational Director Dawn Kelly explained why the chorus wants to support Newlife Foundation.

“Many of our members have children,” said Dawn. “Some have grown up with a disabled or terminally ill sibling, some have family and friends who have a disabled child and others work with disabled children.

“Raising funds for a charity that helps children is something Aurora members have an affinity with. We want to help Newlife Foundation to continue providing support and equipment to disabled and terminally ill children.”

At present, Newlife Foundation is working with 24 children in Derbyshire who require equipment grants and loans totalling £12,284. David Reeves, Newlife’s Regional Fundraising and Awareness manager for Derbyshire, said: “With the recent launch of the Newlife Derbyshire Fund, groups like the Aurora A Capella Chorus are assured that their efforts will be helping local families.

“Demand on our range of practical support services is up 25 per cent across the UK, and local fundraising events like this musical evening in May are key to Newlife being able to continue to support local families.”

The May 16 show starts at 7pm (doors open 6:30pm) and tickets are £7, with £5 concessions. Tickets can be purchased on the door or booked in advance by emailing lynne-joan-aurora@hotmail.co.uk or by telephoning Lynne on 01246 569962 or 0778 527 4420, or Joan on 01246 569972 or 0776 3495632.
